Hyperhidrosis means sweating beyond what the body needs for cooling. Treatment depends on whether sweating is focal or generalised and whether it is primary or caused by a medicine or medical condition. Persistent, new, generalised or night-time sweating requires assessment before a procedure is considered.
Revive Clinic provides consultations for excessive sweating in Chembur, Mumbai, near Tilak Nagar. The assessment reviews the affected areas, duration, triggers, night sweating, medicines, medical history and effect on work, clothing and daily activities. Investigation or referral may be advised when a secondary cause is possible.
| Common areas | Underarms, palms, soles, face or more than one focal area. |
|---|---|
| Primary hyperhidrosis | Often focal and not explained by another condition or medicine. |
| Secondary sweating | May be associated with a medicine or medical condition and requires the underlying cause to be assessed. |
| Treatment goal | Reduce sweating enough to improve comfort and daily activities; a permanent cure cannot be promised. |
| Clinic location | Chembur West near Tilak Nagar, Mumbai. |
Management may begin with suitable clinical-strength antiperspirant and trigger or skincare guidance. Depending on the diagnosis and treatment area, options such as iontophoresis for hands or feet, medicine prescribed by an appropriate clinician, or botulinum-toxin injections for selected focal sweating may be discussed. Not every option is available or suitable for every body area.
The consultation records where and when sweating occurs, whether it happens during sleep, family history, triggers, medicines and associated symptoms. The skin is examined and the likely type of hyperhidrosis is discussed. If injections are suitable, the treatment area, expected dose, temporary effect, discomfort, risks and follow-up plan are explained before consent.
Suitability depends on the cause, area and selected treatment. Pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection or inflammation at the site, certain neuromuscular conditions, medicines that affect nerves or muscles, and previous reactions can change the plan. New generalised sweating, night sweats, fever, unexplained weight loss, chest symptoms or another concerning symptom requires medical evaluation.
A consultation is important because results, session numbers, downtime and suitability vary. Active infection, pregnancy, certain medicines, a tendency to form keloids, or an underlying medical condition may change the recommended plan.
Results depend on the treatment and body area. Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces sweating in the injected area; it does not remove the underlying tendency permanently and repeat treatment may be needed. Response and duration vary, and sweating in untreated areas is not controlled by a focal procedure.
Topical treatments can irritate the skin. Iontophoresis may cause tingling, dryness or irritation. Injection treatment can cause temporary pain, tenderness, bruising, headache or local muscle weakness. Area-specific risks and aftercare are discussed before treatment.
Cost depends on the diagnosed type of sweating, treatment area, selected option, product and dose where injections are used, and follow-up plan. The applicable fee is confirmed after assessment.
| Treatment | How it works | May be considered for |
|---|---|---|
| Clinical antiperspirant | Temporarily reduces sweat reaching the skin surface. | Often considered first for focal sweating; irritation can occur. |
| Iontophoresis | A low electrical current is passed through water or a wet pad. | Commonly considered for hands and feet; repeated treatment and maintenance are usually required. |
| Botulinum-toxin injections | Temporarily interrupt the nerve signal that activates sweat glands in the treated area. | Selected focal hyperhidrosis, particularly underarm sweating, after assessment. |
| Oral medicine or referral | May reduce sweating throughout the body or address an underlying cause. | Selected cases under appropriate medical supervision because systemic side effects can occur. |

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating beyond what the body needs for temperature control. It can affect one area or be more widespread.
It may temporarily reduce sweating in selected patients by reducing the nerve signal to sweat glands in the injected area. Suitability, dose, risks and alternatives require assessment.
Not usually. Many treatments control sweating for a period and require ongoing use, maintenance or repeat sessions.
New or generalised sweating, night sweats, fever, unexplained weight loss, symptoms of another illness, or sweating that began after a medicine should be medically assessed.
Yes, options such as suitable antiperspirant or iontophoresis may be considered. Injection treatment is area-dependent and can have risks such as temporary muscle weakness.
