Mole removal should begin with an examination because changing, irregular, bleeding or symptomatic moles may require medical investigation rather than routine cosmetic removal. The removal method depends on the mole type, depth and location.
Moles are pigmented skin growths that are often harmless. Cosmetic removal may be considered for selected moles after assessment, while suspicious features require appropriate referral or testing.
Depending on the examination, options may include shave removal, excision, electrosurgery or another suitable approach. Laser is not appropriate for every mole because tissue assessment may be important.
